Up River Amber

This is a classic example of a California Common/Steam Beer, a style that originated in San Francisco. It is fermented with a hybrid yeast that exhibits characteristics of both ales and lagers. The malt flavor is grainy and toasty and there is a noticeable amount of Northern Brewer hops. Unlike the citrusy hops of American Pale Ales and Ambers, the qualities of the Norther Brewer hop can be described as a more woody, piney, or miny type flavor.
