Crystal Bright and the Silver Hands
Crystal Bright & the Silver Hands, led by singer/songwriter, ethnomusicologist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, Crystal Bright, have played over 500 shows from Canada to Austin to New Orleans to Nashville over the past five years, sharing the stage with the likes of Beats Antique, Autumn Owls, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, The Love Language, Rising Appalachia, Larkin Grimm, Pearl and the Beard and many more.
Bright performed with the North Carolina Symphony in 2011 on an arrangement of her song “Toy Hammer” and has performed at various festivals around the country including SXSW, Savannah Stopover, FloydFest, DragonCon, Midpoint Music Fest, The Steampunk World’s Fair, and Shakori Hills. She took Runner Up for On the Rise at Floydfest 2013 for a return set in 2014, and was named Best Songwriter 2014 and Best Musician 2015 in Greensboro’s Yes Weekly.
Bright has an eclectic, haunting but yet whimsical, carnivalesque world folk sound, dubbed “kaleidophrenic cabaret.” She plays accordion, musical saw, concertina, piano, Taiko drum, adungu (Ugandan harp), and various others, leaving people captivated with her operatic and soulful vocals and virtuosic command of her exotic instruments.
The Last Word Benders
The Last WordBenders was formed in 2012 by MorningStar (Emstar) and MidiBoss(Kpop Kakashi), best friends whom both shared a love for hip hop and wordplay. What started out as your typical stoner kid, basement rhyming smoke sessions; LWB became over time a well crafted back and forth, nerdy chopper influenced duo. From Comic Cons throughout NC to notable Asheville music venues, the duo has quickly carved a reputation for their steady work ethic while maintaining their own lane.
EmStar and KPop both share many passions outside of the hip hop/music scene. They are involved with local cosplay groups, fashion designers, photographers, models, as well as local businesses and organizations like Asheville Anime Regional Convention. As a result, they find ways to intertwine all of these aspects into their brand not only through their lyrics and music, but into their visual aspect and image as well.
Since their debut in 2012, LWB have worked with many touring artists, and have been featured on several artist and compilation albums. Noted for their high energy performances, the duo knows no boundaries when it comes to blending their love for intricate rhyme schemes from pop culture, social/personal commentary, to conscious content and satirical themes.
