Pint with a Professor: Matt Hoffman

Islamophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment has become a common feature of the American news media cycle. Strongly rooted in historical developments and growing fears of extremism, Islamophobia is a complex and changing ideological framework with lasting ramifications in the US and around the globe. This talk will trace the historic roots and modern contributors to this phenomenon, including those seeking to expose and combat its negative impacts.

Matt Hoffman is an adjunct instructor of religious studies at Warren Wilson College. He received his training and Union Theological Seminary in New York and the International Institute of Islamic Thought in Herndon, VA. Matt has worked with a variety of interfaith organizations and has taught numberous courses and seminars on the topic of combating Islamophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment.
