Valentine’s Day with The Live Wires (Vintage Jazz & Swing)
February 14 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
The Live Wires are Linda Mitchell, guitar and vocals and Ray Ring, lead guitar, two accomplished, swinging musicians, who met and discovered a mutual passion for the standards of the Great American Song Book.
Their music reaches across time from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s early swing to the bebop and free jazz eras of the 50’s and 60’s. The two Live Wires have been swinging and singing together in venues around Asheville and Western North Carolina since the Spring of 2017
Ray’s lead guitar interpretations of jazz standards are lyrical and smokin’ by turns. Sometimes we can even get him to sing! This long time resident of Asheville is a Jazz guitarist and electronics designer. Since the 90’s Ray has played lead guitar with The Incantations, Leigh Glass, The Space Heaters swing band and Honey&Garbage. Ray frequently wears clothing of the time period while performing and has a special fondness for old school vocal jazz and swing that he plays with The Live Wires.
Linda plays a steady, swinging rhythm guitar and sings. For years she was a solo artist but in recent times has worked with some of the great jazz musicians in the region. Her smoky voice and heartfelt interpretations of the standards has been winning her fans all over WNC for over 10 years. Mainly a solo performer, she too
wears clothes of the time period while playing.
